What is Frontrunning?

Frontrunning is the execution of a trade or transaction ahead of another known or anticipated transaction to benefit from its expected effect. In on-chain markets, transaction visibility and ordering influence whether such a strategy can be attempted.

How does Frontrunning work?

An actor learns about a pending action and attempts to have its own transaction placed first. The route may involve public pending transactions or other access to order flow.

What should trading bot developers know about Frontrunning?

Buying early at a token launch does not by itself establish frontrunning. Transaction ordering is chain-specific, and higher fees alone do not guarantee a position ahead of a target transaction.
